Upsets, Upset, & Set Ups...
Upsets & Set ups of the day:
I don't really see Auburn, at home, beating a 16th ranked Mississippi State as that much of an upset.
Auburn 42 MSU 37.NC State fans being upset over losing Russell Wilson, and watching him take care of business behind that huge Badger offensive line, now that I can see being upsetting for sure! If things continue the way they are in the Big 20 (or wait how many schools are in that conference now?) then Wisconsin could not only come away with a conference championship, but play for their first football national title as well. Michigan State bounced back and put points on the board today, while shutting out FIU, to try and save face in the process. However, against an opponent like Florida International, most would say that the margin of victory could have been a much worse, but hey a win is a win, and a shut out is never a bad thing if you win big.
Wisconsin 35 Oregon St 0
Mich St 44 FIU 0
WF 34 NCSU 27
UNC was set up nicely for a crack at breaking the Top 25. However, allowing Rutgers to comeback in their game today, may upset true Carolina fans, because a 24-22 victory over Rutgers is not an impressive enough to score Top 25 points. Although, it was not a blow out, boost you into the Top 25 rankings win, it was a win nevertheless, against a non-conference team that has a decent program. On that note a loss is a loss too, correct? Had to share the fact that Standford annihilated Dook today as well. Dook did have one moment of joy, with a pick late in the second quarter to bring them within a field just before the half. The second half would not be as pretty a half for the Blue Devils.
UNC 24 Rutgers 22
Standford 44 Dook 14
Michigan at the Big House, slammed the door on Notre Dame and sent them home with an 0 and 2 record. Thus setting the Irishmen up for yet another lack luster season.
Michigan 35 ND 31
The Sun Devils of Tempe took care of business at home against a tough Missouri squad. This along with continued good health, plays into Wisconsin's making a mad dash for the conference title, that could lead to a bigger title in the post season play!
ASU 37 Missouri 30
Ohio State was given a scare along with South Carolina. Ohio State edged Toledo at home, nuff said, and South Carolina squeaked past a somewhat rattled Georgia team today, while Texas tiptoes past BYU, winning by one point! Every win is crucial especially in or near the Top 25. I do not believe in running the score up, but the margin of victory makes a difference for sure. Or at least in most cases.
OSU 27 Toledo 22
USC 45 UGA 42
Texas 17 BYU 16
Stay tuned for Stage 20 of the Vuelta, and the NFL's first full weekend. Au revoir, see you in Madrid, and then off to Charlotte, and then Oakland... À vos souhaits, Deus te abençoe, or just plain old God bless.
