America the Bootyful

Red, White, and Blue... Patriotic through and through? A God fearing Constitutional nation that believes in life, liberty, and the right to pursue happiness? Whose right to pursue?

Malcolm X to say that "WE" didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us.

Marcus Garvey campaigned that all people of African ancestry should go back to Africa, the Motherland.

And what if... Plessy vs. Ferguson was a law that passed and was intact today?

Me personally, as an American, I tend to side with Morgan Freeman.
www.cbsnews.com/videos/freeman-on-black-history/

I don't want a Black History Month, I want to recognized as an American, as a man, and one minus the stereotype. I want to celebrate my independence as well, and I want it to have meaning.

I, like "our" president, have an uncommon last name. The doctor that delivered me is deceased now, and I don't show just anyone my birth certificate, or my drivers license. But I'm not running for any office either. What I am running for is true equality. Running from self victimization, and insecurities that make myself and my people weak. My people being the American in every shade that's dealt with a struggle.

Am I proud of my ancestry? Indeed! From my African heritage, to my Cherokee, and Portuguese, who by the way, played a huge part in Atlantic trade. Yes, even slave trading until the Spainsh took control, but I'm proud of those that opposed such practices. I am proud of the humanitarians that fought to secure freedom.

I am also proud of my Scottish blood! Proud to know that even before President Obama took office, there were good men around that did not discriminate against skin tone and color, but admired and appreciated the beauty in the variances and hues that make up the one race that's most important... "The human race!"

So to my fellow Americans from every walk of life, and from every ancestral background, Happy Independence Day, and may God bless our nation, and all His children in it.

Want To See Inside A Prison?

Some people are locked in their own minds. Held captive by their belief, sealed behind the vault of a closed mind. You are about to meet some of them now.

Follow me please. We will walk down the long hall, where the floors are polished, and the gray concrete appears to be as slick as it has the potential to be icy cold. We pass a series of heavy cast (steel or iron) doors, some slam shut with each repeating the apothegm of, "you're now at our mercy." The officer escorts us for the remaining portion of our journey and it is there we meet individuals from all walks of life. In a snug room with few tables tightly fit, men sit along each one either begin their studies or await instructions. Some individuals are mature enough to belong to the geriatric setting, while others are young enough to be fresh out of high school. Some are Caucasian, some are of African ancestry, some with lots of hair, some balding, some bearded, some clean shaven, and others in between. It is then that one of the younger in between's calls out, "Hey... Hey... Excuse me, Mr. Obama!"

The facilitator lifts his head and eyes turning to the gentleman calling for his attention, and replies with a lighthearted laugh, "Did you just call me Mr. Obama?"

"Yeah," he replies, "I can't remember your name, and it's different, like 'Obama.'"

Another man laughs out loud saying, "Man he wrote his name on the board and how to pronounce it!"

The other men  I.  laugh at the first man as well now.

The first man, with a sly grin on his face says, "That word with the 'w/' next to the letter, and plus sign next to those other letters is how to say his name?! Man I thought that was algebra, or something!"

Needless to say, that earned a boisterous laugh from the entire group, even the facilitator, aka "Mr. Obama."

How is it that I cannot seem to escape the connection to this man? I have to admit that I have mixed emotions concerning that connection. Association with the intellect, and articulation is great. Association with the humanitarian in a person is also great. Association with a politician... not always so great.

Speaking of politicians and humanitarians. Some men will seek to help you as they help themselves, while others will look to get one over on you, and do not desire to work hard and make a change. They only want to help themselves, and not due to hard work either. Those are the imprisoned, and don't plan on leaving that prison even after they leave the facility. What do I mean by that?

Some men that are incarcerated actually look forward to earning their diploma, getting their GED, rightfully obtaining their freedom. Others are stuck in the mindset, of having to get rich, quick, or die trying. The sad thing is, that their attempt and dying from trying is most likely going to be a long painful death. It is a death that kills a families spirit, it kills morale, and it kills freedom. That individual ends up back in prison, on lock down, and in most cases incarcerated for several years. They are prisoners of an inescapable prison, the reprobate mind.

You have now encountered my walk into prison. My walk out is something like this: my Christmas wish and prayer is that all that walked that hallway with me just now counted each step. That you counted each step as though you were blind, that you listened to every door slam shut a little more intently, and that you felt the variance of temperature through each corridor in the same manner. That as you now enter the gatehouse with me, you can see the officer at the controls, and understand that he or she will assist us to obtain our freedom again, just as each man in the room that we just left looks to us and their instructors to obtain their mental and educational freedom. As we walk out together I pray that you thank him/her, as I do, for assisting us to exit. I pray that you'll join me in also in praying that as we help these men obtain their education that they will use it to better themselves and better serve our communities, their communities, our state, our nation, our world. Lord, free our minds, so the rest will follow... Amen.

What do Assad, Putin, and Sarin have in common?

What do Assad, Putin, and Sarin have in common? They're all full of hot stinky, cut straight from the turd air, or in plain simple terms, "gassy."

I was recently invited to Russia because Dennis Rodman was in Korea, and Russia requested that President Obama send someone entertaining, but not repulsive, so they got Sivart Pooknyw. I think my Russian friends thought that I was actually a Brown Russian with a name like Pooknyw. Little did they know it was Aquafina in that Smirnoff bottle, not raw fermented taters! No worries either way, this brother laughed with the best of them. Mr. Putin liked me well enough that he hung a picture of me in the CR. No! Not their conference room, but the newly named "Sivart Pooknyw Comedy Room."

Vladimir Putin says that America should not call itself "exceptional," and that our economy, and politics are in shambles and on a downward spiral. I should've reminded ol' Vlad, that we still have Cadillac, THE Corvette, Harley Davidson, and apple pie. America still has relations with Europe and Asia that allow us to import, Lexus, Benz, and Ferrari, and a host of other countries and businesses as far as trade relations are concerned. While Russia's luxury vehicles are still tanks. Plus whether anyone else wants to give us credit or not (and we are a bit spoiled in America now), but we are still land of the free, and home of the brave, because we have the biggest hearted people on the planet.

I am biased and I am not as well traveled as some, but I just don't see too many places being anymore beautiful than the country that I live in. I am not eager to leave regardless of circumstance. I also not eager to send our troops to war. I am going to post some links from LA Times columnists that share their opinions on war, and what would be at risk in Syria.

One reply to a column says: So if we have a rifle and we're sitting on a hill, and witness a guy killing kids at the park, do we just sit there? Or do we call 9-11 and wait?

I would want to make sure it wasn't the filming of a movie before I took my rifle to a park and drilled somebody! I'd want my facts straight, and I'd want to make certain that there was no way that I would harm anyone else in my act of shooting. I hear what he was saying. I don't believe that children should be a part of warfare at all, and to see those children suffering from gas poisoning is horrible. However, how much more horrible is it, for us to get involved and hurt innocent people ourselves just because someone had a suspicion, or because we were misled (reference the war in Iraq), again? I'm in favor of us allowing these terrorist to play like rival gangs, and let them battle to the death, and eliminate one another, so long as they do not involve the children. Win-win for Israel, the US, and the rest of the free world. Putin can sit proud and say that he saved the world, and Assad can say, thank you Jesus, I will not be the next Iraqi dictator dead, Damsad Insane. Peace, and happy reading.

What Are The Odds Of A Threepeat?

Lakers - Hornets:
OK I picked the Lakers up big over the Hornets last night in Game 5. I like most just have a hard time going against talent, experience, size, and home cooking! So what are the Lakers odds at a 3peat? Better than the odds that the racist, or the extreme right, or the extremely stupid, and yes even better odds than the Don in trying to say that OUR President doesn't have a birth certificate! A picture is worth a thousand words so here ya go...

OK on to the next series.
Heat - Sixers: I missed the call on the blow out, because it didn't happen. I felt that Miami should have won by an average of 20 points and swept the series. Well they say the big boys get geared for the big games, and I guess a W is a W in the first or last round as long as it's in your teams favor.

Spurs - Grizzlies: I felt that the Spurs would rebound in Game 5 of their series with Memphis as well, but it will be tough to take 3 straight from a young unafraid Grizzlies squad. Wow, what a barn burner in SA! Just what a young team doesn't want to give a crafty veteran squad, hope, and confidence! The Grizzlies not only gave the Spurs one shot at OT, but two, and they took full advantage of it and live to see another day! Great overtime game!

Celtics - Anthony/Stoudamire I mean Knicks: The Celtics get the benefit of waiting for their opponent after sweeping the Knicks in the first round. Shocked, not really, but definitely didn't see the broom coming in this series. I am telling you now, that even without Perkins, the Celtics may be a mature team, but they are not a dead team!
Magic - Hawks: I did see a big win coming in this game as well. The drubbing that Orlando put on Atlanta at home, was a confidence builder, but will it lead to over confidence for game 6? Time will tell.

Bulls - Pacers: I really expected the Bulls to sweep the Pacers, but they were one game shy of that. Leagues youngest team in the playoffs, and best record in the NBA regular season, but will drive and youth allow them a title? I say not yet, but again time will tell.

Nuggets - Thunder: George Karl, Ray Felton, Ty Lawson, brotherhood! Other than saying that Durant is a  beast, nuff said!

Mavs - Blazers: That is the other match up right?

OK on to more important issues, here's some playoff look-a-likes for you kiddies:

Ashton K, and Kyle K...

Kurt Thomas now a Bull could be a bigger thug double for Dizzell!

And last but not least... Steve Urkel said that Shane Battier should yell, "Oh did I do that every time he gets an assist to Zach Randolph who looks just like his best bud Eddie Winslow...

So who else has an NBA look-a-like? Marc Gasol does not count, his brother is not a great actor because he flops well in Hollywood, although he and a few others are deserving of Oscars, but he is also a Laker!
