Fear of Missing Out

 Fear

Preparedness... Mookie Betts of the LA Dodgers is facing former Astros and current Rays pitcher Charles Alfred Morton IV in the 2020, COVID shortened season ending, World Series. Mookie is prepared to swing at a good pitch. He has no fear of missing out. He gets his turn to bat, and he makes the most of it. He’s not concerned with what happened the at bat before him, or his last at bat for that matter. He’s only interested in doing what he can do with Charlie Morton’s next pitch.

I had taken some time away from social media. It was much needed time away, and I have no regrets. It made me realize just how much of the real me, and the real world I was missing out on. I had a special day with special people, some great surprises, and much needed alone time with d.o.g, and G.O.D. Fear of missing out, transformed to faithfully overcoming my opposition. You’re in the batters box, what are you prepared to do with the next pitch? Beware of the intentional pass. The enemy may give you a base, but what will you do to get home? What will you do with the next pitch?

Peace, blessings, and joy...

Stop Playing

Stop Playing

Andy Stanley wrote from his devotional; Better Decisions, Fewer Regrets, “People yielded to God don’t attempt to play God. They don’t predict outcomes. Instead, they surrender. They obey. They follow. As much as they want anything they want to be able to lie in bed at night knowing that things are good between them and their Heavenly Father.”

I know that we live in a world full of different people. I also know that some of our differences are all that some of those people are going to see. Some are going to embrace and appreciate the differences, and unfortunately, some of those people are going to reject and hate you just because of those differences.

How you love or treat someone should not be dependent on how they treat you or other people, it should be based upon how God treats you and has instructed you.

People may abandon you, exclude you from their lives, and become very cold towards you, but God will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV). Forsake... what’s does that mean? It means that He will give you the space that you ask for, but promised not to leave you, and then give up on, reject, turn His back on, or disown you. Even when we turn our backs on Him He has never stopped being their for us, especially when we call on Him wholeheartedly.

So stop playing God, stop playing the victim. Stop playing like you can see things clearly when you aren’t even looking. Be true to Him, be true to yourself, and turn it all over to Him. The picture is much clearer when we look at it in Supernatural faith, rather than with natural sight.

Peace, blessings, and joy...

Want To See Inside A Prison?

Some people are locked in their own minds. Held captive by their belief, sealed behind the vault of a closed mind. You are about to meet some of them now.

Follow me please. We will walk down the long hall, where the floors are polished, and the gray concrete appears to be as slick as it has the potential to be icy cold. We pass a series of heavy cast (steel or iron) doors, some slam shut with each repeating the apothegm of, "you're now at our mercy." The officer escorts us for the remaining portion of our journey and it is there we meet individuals from all walks of life. In a snug room with few tables tightly fit, men sit along each one either begin their studies or await instructions. Some individuals are mature enough to belong to the geriatric setting, while others are young enough to be fresh out of high school. Some are Caucasian, some are of African ancestry, some with lots of hair, some balding, some bearded, some clean shaven, and others in between. It is then that one of the younger in between's calls out, "Hey... Hey... Excuse me, Mr. Obama!"

The facilitator lifts his head and eyes turning to the gentleman calling for his attention, and replies with a lighthearted laugh, "Did you just call me Mr. Obama?"

"Yeah," he replies, "I can't remember your name, and it's different, like 'Obama.'"

Another man laughs out loud saying, "Man he wrote his name on the board and how to pronounce it!"

The other men  I.  laugh at the first man as well now.

The first man, with a sly grin on his face says, "That word with the 'w/' next to the letter, and plus sign next to those other letters is how to say his name?! Man I thought that was algebra, or something!"

Needless to say, that earned a boisterous laugh from the entire group, even the facilitator, aka "Mr. Obama."

How is it that I cannot seem to escape the connection to this man? I have to admit that I have mixed emotions concerning that connection. Association with the intellect, and articulation is great. Association with the humanitarian in a person is also great. Association with a politician... not always so great.

Speaking of politicians and humanitarians. Some men will seek to help you as they help themselves, while others will look to get one over on you, and do not desire to work hard and make a change. They only want to help themselves, and not due to hard work either. Those are the imprisoned, and don't plan on leaving that prison even after they leave the facility. What do I mean by that?

Some men that are incarcerated actually look forward to earning their diploma, getting their GED, rightfully obtaining their freedom. Others are stuck in the mindset, of having to get rich, quick, or die trying. The sad thing is, that their attempt and dying from trying is most likely going to be a long painful death. It is a death that kills a families spirit, it kills morale, and it kills freedom. That individual ends up back in prison, on lock down, and in most cases incarcerated for several years. They are prisoners of an inescapable prison, the reprobate mind.

You have now encountered my walk into prison. My walk out is something like this: my Christmas wish and prayer is that all that walked that hallway with me just now counted each step. That you counted each step as though you were blind, that you listened to every door slam shut a little more intently, and that you felt the variance of temperature through each corridor in the same manner. That as you now enter the gatehouse with me, you can see the officer at the controls, and understand that he or she will assist us to obtain our freedom again, just as each man in the room that we just left looks to us and their instructors to obtain their mental and educational freedom. As we walk out together I pray that you thank him/her, as I do, for assisting us to exit. I pray that you'll join me in also in praying that as we help these men obtain their education that they will use it to better themselves and better serve our communities, their communities, our state, our nation, our world. Lord, free our minds, so the rest will follow... Amen.

They Didn't Stand A Chance

They Didn't Stand A Chance

They didn't stand a chance from the beginning,
They didn't have a say.
They didn't have a ray of hope, good times thinning,
They didn't have a way.

They turned it all around, they were winning,
They made today a new day.
They have taken a stance, eliminated chance,
They (with God) made a way.

Trevor "Big Bang" Bayne

Trevor said with his faith statement, (not really, the imperfect Christian did) about the evolution of his Daytona victory... "God clapped His hands, and "bang!" Trevor after a prayer was headed to Victory Lane. ;)

The imperfect Christian is not a Ford fan, and it's not that he dislikes the Wood Brothers (who have been racing since Moses introduced them to chariot racing), but the imperfect one is a Trevor Bayne fan now. The imperfect Christian, and family made it through Knoxville just before the city was covered in red and white confetti! We listened to the race via the radio on our way home from a nice road trip, and were blown away by Trevor's faith statement. Here's the link to the article in Autoweek:

http://www.autoweek.com/article/20110221/NASCAR/110229992

A co-worker turned the imperfect Christian on to this article, and used the last statement that Trevor gave to the columnist:

"One more thing: My faith is a huge part of my life. The biggest thing I've ever done and ever could do was find Christ. That's the reason I'm here; that's my whole platform. He's put me here for this reason. If it wasn't for that, there's no way I'd be here. These are great things, but they go away with time. My relationship with Christ is something that can never go away."

God bless the Trevor Bayne's of the sports world. Prayerfully more men will make this stand, and say, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ!" For that reason I pulled for Jeff Gordon after his first victory, and it would be nice to hear him glorify God again like he used to.

Steady Rollin' Trekin' Right Along!

I hear Trek, and I think of two things:

1. James T. Kirk and the Starship Enterprise
2. A Wisconsin born bicycle company!

I am starting to dig the bike above. It's Trek's 1.1. It needs a bigger chain ring for my need to do 65-70mph on the downside of Chestoa, but on the other hand, I could use that smaller ring, and a granny gear for the climb back up since I am in horrendous shape! Did I mention that the Carrera Blue is an eye catcher as well, or that the entry level price is nicer than that of the Madone Series? Yes, Mr. Armstrong you can send me one if you really feel that generous, but I will not hold you to that! Plus you have already told me that I couldn't talk to you about how I'm not religious, but very spiritual. Lol. Imperfect may not be my middle name, but it is who I am until the day of perfecting. I credit my doctor's for a lot of healing, but I credit the Great Physician with blessing those gifted hands, and minds that have helped me along the way. When I felt as though I couldn't cope, He made a way, even when the doctors, lawyers, and friends had given up on me. For that I truly am thankful.

Tebow & Arrows

Tebow is the real deal, short and plain! Mr. Kriegel believes in freedom, and I agree with him there. His choice of good causes, well...
Freedom of speech should apply to Christians as well. Now I am not saying that Tim Tebow is perfect, but the Lefty shoots his Te-Bow pretty straight, and that arrow has hit a lot of hearts. Convicted a lot of hearts with turning to Christ.
As for Tebow going in the 94th Round of the NFL Draft we'll see. But I think CBS, and the NFL are on to something. Why not show in the Super Bowl during a commercial that we as Americans, that we as football fans should stand for something, and this time it just happens to be something positive. My hats off to you Mr. Tebow, you're a fine Christian athlete! But just for the record, the Gators get no love over my beloved Heels!

Love, Peace, and Hair Grease, but please Lord not Greased love, and hairpiece.
